The former First Lady of the United States, Rosalynn Carter, has said that there are only four kinds of people in this world:

Respite refers to caregivers' experiences of relief or renewal. This relief or renewal can be physical, emotional, psychological, social, and/or spiritual.

Respite results from services, activities and planning that are in place to support caregivers in maintaining their own health and creating more balance in their lives.

Maybe you’ve asked yourself the question: Am I a Caregiver?
Do you care for a loved one or friend who has a health problem? Is the care you’re providing affecting your: social life, your health, your relationships, your work, your finances?

Caregivers are family members or friends who provide both short term and ongoing care and assistance, without pay, to those in need of support due to physical, cognitive or mental health conditions. They are our parents, siblings, children of all ages, grandchildren, grandparents, friends and neighbours.

While caregiving includes immeasurable personal rewards, the physical, psychological, social and financial risks assumed by family and friends providing care have also been well documented.

The Care-ring Voice Network believes that caring for caregivers is vital to the health of our communities.
